We're closing on our house today! It's been an anxious few weeks waiting for everything to be finalized and ready to go, but today is the day!
I swiped the picture from the realtor.com listing just so I could show off the house. I can't wait to start sprucing it up and making it ours. After closing we're heading straight for Lowes to look at paint!
There are so many projects I want to tackle for our new home - but the first project is our daughter's room!
Time to go!

Progress
The Due Diligence period is almost over and we're still waiting for the appraisal to be finished. We've had the home inspection & the pest inspection as well as a massive "measure all the things!" session. I thought it would help in working out what furniture would go where. Instead it's shown me that we don't have enough furniture for our new home. I'm not too worried about that. After all, everyone needs to build up and we've been in a 2 bedroom apartment or townhouse for so long the idea of needing more furniture has just never been an issue.
Our closing date has moved up by more than a week so that will give us some time to get in and paint before we actually move furniture. I'm thrilled by this development. One thing I really wanted was to get our daughter's room set up before she spent a night in the house. The transition is going to be big enough already that I want her to have something remotely familiar and stable in place.
It's an exciting time and one I'm enjoying despite the fact it's also an extremely stressful time. Soon I hope to start adding pictures of the house and before & after posts for the different rooms as we get settled and start making this wonderful house our home.

A New Beginning
Welcome!
I haven't kept a blog regularly in many years but I'm changing that. It's a new year with new adventures and memories to be made. I want to record them and share the journey with anyone that's interested in reading about it.
For 2015 my family decided to start the year off with a big change. We signed the contract on a new home on December 31, 2014 so we're starting the year with a huge task. Pack up a 900 square foot townhouse and prep for a move into a 2800 square foot home! Part of my thinks we'll never need so much space but I'm thrilled to know we'll have it.
Our new house was built in 1964 and there haven't been many updates to the home since then. But, there are four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a fantastic backyard. It feels open and I can't wait to get into it and start making it ours!
This blog will record the moving process from the townhouse to our new house as well as milestones and personal reflections. I strive to keep a positive outlook on life and hope to share the wonderful things we experience regularly. So grab your favorite beverage, get comfortable and join me in Life on the Bright Side!
